Training

Bringing home a new puppy? Trying to retrain an older dog? We admit, it's a struggle.  But, don't lose hope!  We are here to guide you!

PRAISE

Give your dog lots of praise when they use the wee wee pad.
    • Dogs long to please you, they try their best to follow the commands and expectations you set for them.  If you come home from a hard day's work, you may not be inclined to praise your puppy for a job well done... BUT... think of how much more tired you would be if you had to clean up a big mess off your floor!
    • Take the time to praise your pet in a sing-song voice each and every time you change a used wee wee pad -or- see them using one. Trust us, a little praise goes a long way.  TRY IT!
RETRAIN

It's bound to happen. Even the best dogs have accidents.  It's only natural. How you deal with them, is a crucial element to retraining their behavior.
    • First, be patient.  Don't lose your cool.  Instead, use this opportunity to retrain calmly and efficiently.  While cleaning the accident, say "No <Pet's Name>".  Then, quickly drop the paper towel on the desired wee wee pad and say "Good <Pet's Name>.
    • This does not have to be dramatic.  In fact, this should be done a calm and friendly/assuring tone.
    • You are leading by example; simply, place their "scent" on the wee wee pad.  Your dog will get the point.
